Saying Monji always takes things too seriously and needs to lighten up-just have fun because all Chiba wants out of their relationship is fun.īut Monji can only take so much. Saying Monji acts too much like they’re lovers. Saying he prefers people who’re so skinny their bones stick out, so Monji needs to lose weight. But there are other times, terrible times, where Chiba takes his frustration out on Monji and says biting things without even blinking an eye. There are times where he’s gentle and sweet to Monji, and during those times he has a beautiful and adorable smile. He confessed his feelings to Chiba, and Chiba is willing to reciprocate but only when it’s convenient to him-when he wants someone to sleep with, someone to go out with, someone to talk to. But the more Monji sees Chie’s crying face, listens to her heartbroken words, the more he sees of himself in her.īecause Monji is actually currently sleeping with his friend, Chiba. Generally this wouldn’t be such a big deal, since offering a shoulder to lean on is what a friend is for. However, his childhood friend Chie has lately been crying to him about her troubles with love- how she’s in love with a man who is willing to flirt with her, to touch her, to sleep with her, but not love her. The story starts out with Monji, a cute college student with a childlike face and a fairly good outlook on the world. Yakozen is a story that’s somewhat hard to describe, because it’s not as simple as the path to a loving relationship, yet at the same time that’s exactly what it is. Besides, I just generally love talking about this manga. So far this tankoubon has been getting mixed reviews on other sites (though the reviews nonetheless seem to be on the higher side either way) so I want to throw in my two cents. Obviously I read all of this in drap before so it’s had a long time to sink in, so I figured it would be okay if I write a review after just one read-through of the tankoubon version. Actually, I signed up for ComiComi’s online sign event but I haven’t heard from them since so I don’t know if I’ll get a signed version. Yakozen came in the mail today!! Pretty damn exciting.
